Master International Corporation, d/b/a Master Electronics, and its subsidiaries, divisions, and affiliates, which includes Onlinecomponents.com (collectively, “Master Electronics,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our personal information gathering practices in connection with personal information we receive both online (through our Master Websites (defined below)) and offline (e.g. via the phone, conferences, in-person, and other correspondence). This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information we process as a service provider. The Privacy Policy applies to MasterElectronics.com, Onlinecomponents.com, and any other website operated by Master Electronics that links to or displays this privacy policy (collectively, “Master Websites”).

While the Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information, please be aware that additional terms and conditions may apply to the Master Website you are visiting and any products we offer. For example, the following terms and conditions may apply depending on which Master Website you are using:

By using Master Websites or purchasing products from us, or otherwise providing your consent or acceptance through a check-box, button-click, or any other consent or acceptance mechanism, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms, and that your information will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy.

In certain jurisdictions, such as California, we are required to provide you with additional information about our processing activities. If you are a California resident, please see the California Residents Appendix below for further information.

1. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We may collect and process the following personal information about you:

(a) Information and identifiers about you. This includes your name, company name, job title, address, and contact details (business and/or personal), email address, demographic information, including the products you are interested in and your marketing preferences, and any information you provide to us voluntarily such as through forms you fill in, when you when you contact customer support services. If you register for an account on a Master Website, we will collect information about your account, including your username. Additionally, if you apply for a job with Master Electronics, including through our UltiPro platform, we may collect the information described above, as well as personal information about your employment history, references, resume details, and other contact and historical information commonly collected for job applications. We may also collect information about the results of any pre or post-hire tests you may be asked to take, which are operated by our service providers.

(b) Commercial information, including details of your transactions and payment details. Your order details, any information included in a credit application you submit, warranty information, payment details used to purchase our products such as billing address, shipping address, tax exempt status, credit or debit card number and expiration date, and account information relating to other payment services and billing information.

(c) Credit and anti-fraud information. Information relating to your financial situation, your creditworthiness or any criminal or fraudulent activities provided to us by you or third parties including information which establishes your identity, such as driving licenses, passports, utility bills, and information about transactions and credit ratings from credit reference agencies.

(d) Our interactions with you. We may keep a record of any interactions and correspondence between us such as calls made to our customer support services, online chat conversations with our customer support services, any interactions you have with our representatives and any interactions with us or posts that refer to us on social media.

(e) Survey or market research information. If you complete optional surveys that we use for customer service, research or other purposes, we shall collect the information provided in the completed survey.

(f) Your use of Master Websites, including your internet and network activity. When you access a Master Website, we will collect your IP address, which is a number assigned to your device when you connect to the Internet. As part of the protocol of the Internet, web servers can identify your computer by its IP address. In addition, web servers may be able to identify the type of browser, type of computer you are using, your device ID, and geolocation.

(g) Cookies and other information from tracking technologies. Cookies are small bits of information that some websites (including our Master Websites) transfer to an individual's hard drive for various purposes. Master Electronics uses cookies and other tracking technologies to analyze the traffic our Master Websites, such as total visitors and pages viewed, and to make improvements based on the data we collect and to enhance and personalize your experience. (h) Inferences about you. We collect information about your preferences, characteristics, predispositions, behavior, or other trends that help us identify which products you may be interested in.

2. SOURCES OF INFORMATION.

Master Electronics collects the information described above from you, your agents, your employer, our service providers and suppliers, your financial institution, credit agencies, government entities, data analytics providers, our affiliates, and social media networks. This information is collected via our Master Websites, third party websites or mobile applications you interact with or that collect information on our behalf (including those run by our service providers), customer service calls or online chats, communications (via e-mail, on the phone, or in person), including those between you and us, and other offline channels, including events you might attend with us. In the case of third party features such as advertising or links to other websites, such third parties may also collect information. You should review the applicable privacy policies of these third parties before providing personal information. Master Electronics is not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties.

3. OUR USE OF COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

Master Electronics and third parties may use a variety of technologies on Master Websites that collect information automatically, including cookies, pixels, web beacons, and logging. Master Electronics also places cookies on third party websites to collect information about you so that Master Electronics can serve personalized ads to you with products that may be of interest to you.

Information about our use of cookies

Like most websites, our website uses small data files stored on your computer or mobile device called cookies. Cookies consist of two different types; session and persistent. Session cookies enable us to recognize your actions during the browsing session, are temporary and expire when you close your browser and are not stored beyond this. Persistent cookies remain stored on your device after you close your browser until they expire or when you delete them.

Cookies and web beacons, typically a one-pixel image, used to pass information from your computer or mobile device to our website, enable us to provide you with great customer service, improvements to our website design, product selection and promotions by:

• keeping track of what you have in your shopping cart;
• remembering you when you return to visit a Master Website;
• identifying the pages you click on during your visit to a Master Website;
• the name of the website you visited immediately before traveling to a Master Website; and
• helping track whether our communications are reaching you, measuring their effectiveness and allowing us to better design future communications.

We use this information to improve our website design, product selection, customer service, and promotions.

We may contract with third parties who may use cookies and web beacons and collect information on our behalf for the reasons described above, or to provide services such as customer relationship management, credit card processing, identity verification, fraud prevention, shipping, or data management. For example, Master Electronics uses Hubspot, Talkdesk, Zaius and Zendesk as customer relationship management and/or marketing automation tools, and Cybersource, Cortera and Apruve for processing payments, identity verification, credit scoring, and/or fraud prevention. We encourage you to review the privacy policies for these third parties who assist us in providing Master Websites and operating Master Electronics.

Our use of cookies for marketing, retargeting, and analytics

We also use third party retargeting and remarketing features on our website. These technologies allow us to address internet users who previously visited the site by personalized advertising on third party websites. For this purpose, the retargeting or remarketing provider will store a cookie on your hard drive. Based on the cookie technology, various user details will be stored - for example, the advertising you received from us or clicked, the products you viewed, or whether you made a purchase.

Our advertisers and other partners may also use cookies in connection with the services and websites to which our Master Websites link. We do not control these cookies.

4. USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Master Electronics may use your personal information for the purposes described below. Master Electronics may also use your personal information for any additional purpose that you consent to or that Master Electronics notifies you of at the time of collection.

(a) To provide our products and services to you. To enable you to explore and purchase products, to supply, distribute, or use services (e.g. on our Master Websites), to collect payment, to set up or verify an account for you, to provide customer service, and to enable us to identify you as a user of our products and services. If you submit a credit application to us, we will use that information to determine your creditworthiness.

(b) To communicate effectively with you and conduct our business. To provide you with administrative emails, to correspond with you when you register to receive information, to communicate with you, including posting a comment on our social media accounts, and to inform you of changes to this Privacy Policy, our inventory or products we offer, or the applicable terms and conditions. We will also communicate with you to provide customer support and in relation to inquiries.

(c) For research and development purposes. When you participate in a survey or we gather demographic information about our user base, we analyze trends about our users based on information they provide and their interactions with us. We also use certain personal information to improve our Master Websites, products, and services.

(d) To provide you with marketing material. To promote our services and products, notify you about new products and services or to send you surveys, promotional materials, to assist you in your future procurement needs, and to provide you coupons and discounts, special pricing requests, or RFPs about our products and services by mail, email, and through social media. We may also use your personal information to analyze our customers’ preferences and market trends and derive insights, which we may use to tailor the types of products and offers that we present to you. We will provide an option to unsubscribe or opt-out of further communication on any electronic marketing communication sent to you.

(e) To monitor certain activities. We monitor the use of our Master Websites, including users’ movements around the Master Websites, the date and time of your visit, details of the information collected through cookies and other tracking methodologies. We sometimes monitor activities as part of our compliance procedures and to combat fraud. We may also collect limited geolocation data based on your IP address.

(f) To administer our Master Websites. Including to resolve problems and disputes with a particular Master Website, ensure that the content is relevant and presented to you in the most effective manner for you, ensure compliance with our terms and conditions and this Privacy Policy, and protect the security and integrity of our Master Websites.

(g) To comply with our legal obligations and enforce our rights. To comply with our regulatory requirements, to conduct audits, to dialogue with regulators, to protect Master Electronics’ or a third party’s rights and enforce our contracts, which may include disclosing your personal information to third parties, the court service, attorneys, regulators or law enforcement agencies in connection with inquiries, proceedings or investigations by such parties anywhere in the world or where compelled to do so.

(h) In connection with a sale, merger, or reorganization of our business. If we undergo a sale, merger, or reorganization, we may need to transfer some or all of your personal information to a third party or its advisors as part of any due diligence process for the purpose of analyzing the proposed sale, merger, or reorganization or after the sale, merger, or reorganization for the same purposes as set out in this Privacy Policy.

(i) To consider you for a position with Master Electronics. Including to perform a background check with your consent, administer pre- or post-hire tests, review your credentials, contact your references, and other routine processing relating to our hiring practices.

5. WITH WHOM THE PERSONAL INFORMATION MAY BE SHARED.

We may disclose personal information as described in the below table. Except as described in this Privacy Policy, Master Electronics will not knowingly disclose or authorize the disclosure of your personal information to any third party unless: (1) we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may have breached the terms and conditions of a Master Website or who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) Master Electronics’ rights or property, other Master Website users, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities; (2) we believe in good faith that the law requires it; or (3) you consent to the disclosure.

6. RETENTION PERIODS.

Our retention periods for personal information are based on business needs and legal requirements. We will retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and otherwise as long as is necessary for the processing purpose(s) for which it was collected and any other permitted linked purpose. Where personal information is no longer needed, we either irreversibly anonymize the data (in which case we may further retain and use the anonymized data) or securely destroy the data.

7. YOUR CHOICES.

E-mail Opt-Out. You may opt out of receiving future marketing communications from us by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in our email marketing communications or you may send a request to privacy@masterelectronics.com.

Do Not Track. Due to automatic collection of cookies, we do not currently honor “do not track” requests—we treat all visitors the same.

Opt-Out of Tracking Technologies. If you do not wish us to place cookies, you may set your browser to refuse some or all cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, please note that some parts of our Master Websites may then be inaccessible or may not function properly. You may also follow the opt-out links provided in the section entitled “OUR USE OF COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES,” to opt-out of certain third party cookies and other tracking technologies.

8. CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13 YEARS.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information and otherwise comply with the requirements of any applicable law including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe someone under the age of 13 has provided us with personal information, we ask that you contact us through the methods described below.

9. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES.

While you are using our Master Websites, you may be linked or directed to other third party websites that are beyond Master Electronics’ control. Each of these third parties may have a privacy policy different from that of Master Electronics. This includes social media sites through which you may interact with Master Electronics. Master Electronics is not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties. You should review the applicable privacy policies of these third party websites before providing personal information to those third parties.

10. SECURITY.

We recognize how important it is to protect your personal information whether we interact with you online, over the phone, or in person. Unfortunately, no data transmission (both over the Internet or otherwise) can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you provide to us.

11. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time and if we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will either post notices on this page (or the page on which you found this Privacy Policy) and/or we will send an e-mail notice to you about such changes, if we have a valid email on file for you. Your continued use of Master Websites after we have posted an updated Privacy Policy means that you accept any updates or changes in the updated Privacy Policy, regardless of whether you actually receive an email notification of such changes.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS APPENDIX

This Appendix applies solely to individuals who reside in the State of California (“consumers” or “you”). This Appendix complies with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) and any terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used in this Appendix. This Appendix does not apply to personal information outside the scope of the CCPA.

• 1. SALE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION.

  We do not sell your personal information for monetary payment, whatsoever. However, CCPA defines a “sale” of personal information broadly to include more than exchanges of personal information for monetary purposes. A sale can include sharing personal information with a third party for “valuable consideration,” or where the information shared can be used by the third party (even if they are performing services on our behalf) for that third party’s own commercial purposes.

  To ensure we can share our products with you and tailor our advertisements, we do allow some of our advertising partners to use cookies, pixels, and other technologies to collect personal information on our Master Websites, and this may constitute a “sale” of personal information under CCPA, even though we receive no monetary payment. If you would like to opt out of providing us with personal information through cookies, pixels, and other similar technologies, you may set your browser to refuse some cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent, and/or you can opt-out of certain information collection by third parties by following the instructions in the “OUR USE OF COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES” section of our Privacy Policy.

  We also share certain limited contact information with the suppliers of some of our products, to permit those suppliers to understand who is purchasing their product. This may also constitute a sale of personal information under CCPA.

• 2. PERSONAL INFORMATION SALES OPT-OUT.

  If you are 16 years of age or older, you have the right to direct us to not sell your personal information at any time (the “right to opt out”). We do not sell the personal information of consumers we actually know are less than 16 years of age, unless we receive affirmative authorization (the “right to opt in”) from either the consumer who is between 13 and 16 years of age, or the parent or guardian of a consumer less than 13 years of age. Consumers who opt in to personal information sales may opt out of future sales at any time.

  Once you make an opt-out request, we will wait at least twelve (12) months before asking you to reauthorize personal information sales.

  You do not need to create an account with us to exercise your opt-out rights. We will only use personal information provided in an opt-out request to review and comply with the request.

• 3. CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS’ RIGHTS AND CHOICES.

  The CCPA provides California residents with specific rights regarding their personal information, described below. Below are your CCPA rights and how to exercise those rights.

  • a. Access to Specific Information and Data Portability Rights.

    You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months. You could request:

    • The categories of personal information we collected about you;
    • The categories of sources of the personal information we collected about you;
    • Our business or commercial purpose for collecting that personal information;
    • The categories of third parties with whom we share that personal information; or
    • The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you.

  • b. Deletion Request Rights.

    You have the right to request that we delete some or all of the personal information that we have collected from you and retained, subject to a number of exceptions. We are not required to delete personal information that is: (a) necessary to complete a transaction with you or for warranty or product recalls; (b) used for security purposes, to prevent fraud, to fix errors, or to comply with law; (c) reasonable for us to use for internal purposes given our relationship with you; or (d) compatible with the context in which you provided the information. The list of exceptions above is not exhaustive, and we may also deny a deletion request as otherwise permitted by law.

  • c. Exercising Your Rights.

    Only you, or a person or entity that you authorize to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child. If you are making a request on behalf of another person, you must provide written legal documentation that you are authorized to act on behalf of that individual.

    You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must:

    • Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative; and
    • Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.

    We may not be able to fulfill your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. To verify your identity, we may request up to up to 3 pieces of personal information about you, and we reserve the right to take additional steps as necessary to verify your identity if we have reason to believe a request is fraudulent.

  • d. Response Timing and Format.

    We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within 45 days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to 90 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the date we receive your verifiable consumer request. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.

  • e. Non-Discrimination.

    You have the right to not be discriminated against for exercising any of your CCPA rights. Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not:

    • Deny you goods or services;
    • Charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties;
    • Provide you a different level or quality of goods or services; or
    • Suggest that you may receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.

    However, we may offer you certain financial incentives permitted by the CCPA that can result in different prices, rates, or quality levels. Any CCPA-permitted financial incentive we offer will reasonably relate to your personal information’s value and contain written terms that describe the program's material aspects. Participation in a financial incentive program requires your prior opt in consent, which you may revoke at any time.

• 4. OTHER CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS.

  California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code Section § 1798.83) permits users of our Master Websites that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
