Cinch Connectivity Solutions’ Dura-con Connector Savers are now available as a testing interface to lower damage to installed micro-d interconnects through routine systems tests, ElectroPages reported.
“The devices are utilised in between production components, for testing purposes. The connector savers contain a plug and socket on either end so that the repeated insertions and withdrawals on the contacts are minimised enhancing the durability of the interconnect. They are employed to validate an assembled harness or circuit board after production and throughout the testing of new designs. The devices can be found wherever high volumes of micro-ds and M83513s are installed,” EP stated.
Used during routine system tests, the Cinch DURA-CON Micro-D connector savers reduce damage to installed connectors by eliminating numerous mating and unmating cycles experienced by connectors on test harnesses. “Locking hardware must be ordered separately. Reliability is assured with the unique wire form pin providing 7 points of contact when mated,” the Cinch Connectivity site notes.
With a current rating of 3 amps and contact resistance of 8 milliohms, these connector savers have a withstanding voltage of 600 VAC RMS at sea level. Operating temperatures range from -65°F (-55°C) to 275°F (135°C).
Features include 9, 15, 21, 25, 31, 37, 51 and 100 positions with plug on one end and socket on the other. They are available in plastic and metal shells. Thermoplastic and thermoset insulators are available.
These rugged high-performance compact interconnects are ideal for navigation and guidance systems that demand maximum reliability. Dura-Con connectors are based on a unique twist pin contact design that expands outwards creating seven contact points when mated ensuring low contact resistance and a reliable connection even when subjected to high levels of shock and vibration.
