Foster H. Campbell started High Vacuum Electronics in 1962, changing that name to Kilovac in 1964. Kilovac products have been associated with high voltage switching and have been used in space exploration since those early days. Kilovac pioneered the development of vacuum and pressurized high voltage relays and contactors.
The advantage of Kilovac products include their small size and weight for their given power rating. They also have the ability to interrupt DC loads and with their low and stable contact resistance they have high resistance to shock, vibration and temperature extremes. Kilovac relays also have fast operating times and are usable in RF devices.
Kilovac offers relays and contactors known for their capabilities of high voltage switching. The Kilovac brand of products are regarded as the leading brand of products in the development of vacuum and pressurized high voltage relays and contactors.
KILOVAC relays have been used in space applications for more than 30 years, since its first mission in lunar landing equipment in the 1970s to today where they are used extensively in space satellites and are currently used throughout the International Space Station.
The company moved its headquarters to Carpinteria, California in 1968.
