Panasonic Capacitor Production up 20%

Panasonic is increasing its capacitor production at its Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan factory and expects to have a 20% growth in their production by 2021. The increase in production is in response to the higher demand created by 5G infrastructure needs, SemiMedia reported.

“According to Nikkei, Panasonic will increase its production of electronic components used in servers and communication base stations in response to the increased demand brought about by 5G infrastructure,” SemiMedia stated.

As Panasonic increases production of capacitor materials, Nikkei also noted the company will also be increasing production of base station antenna electronic materials at their China facilities.

“The report pointed out that the electronic products Panasonic will increase production are conductive polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The company will introduce production equipment at the Kumamoto plant to produce materials such as polymers, and then assemble it at the plant in Batam, Indonesia. In addition, the Kumamoto Plant will also start production of capacitors used in automotive equipment,” the report noted.
