The three previous months have shown major drops in all aspects of the electronic components markets. Starting with the difficulties of production of components done in China, then the result of nationwide shutdowns of businesses, the component industry has seen major drops in supply and demand.
The Electronic Component Industry Association (ECIA) that monitors the industry is seeing a bounce back in the sentiment index of component manufacturers reflecting an improvement in sales.
“The ECIA, in its latest survey of members across the electronics component supply chain, found renewed optimism in each of the electro-mechanical/connectors, passives and semiconductors sectors. In addition, the overall average outlook for sales by major end-markets recovered back to a “stable” level of 100 in the index.
The strongest end-market sales expectations are focused on medical equipment, telecom networks and avionics/military/space, ECIA found, but even markets facing a more challenging environment are expected to improve in June,” Printed Circuit & Fab reported.
Certain niches in the industry have seen an increase in sales in reaction to the pandemic such as robotics. The ECIA report also mentioned the potential impact of the protests now taking place in all states, but members who were polled had not factored this when assessing the June rebound.
As a member of the ECIA, OnlineComponents.com agrees that a rebound in sales and manufacturing of components will help the industry rebound from the effects of the pandemic on our industry.
