Semtech Transceivers: High-Performance Low Power Budgets

Get the superior propagation characteristics of the 433-, 868-, and 915-MHz bands, compared to 2.4-GHz band radios, with Semtech’s XE1200 series RF Transcievers. These single-chip radios deliver link budgets up to 131 dB at link speeds of 4.8 kbps with 0.1% BER (bit error rate) without an external LNA or PA. The radio’s typical current during transmission is a stingy 33 mA at 5 dBm output; typical receive-mode current is a mere 14 mA resulting in the best link budget in its current class by more than 10 dB and more than 5 dB better than competing devices operating even at 50% greater currents.

Both the XE1203F and XE1205F provide continuous phase two-level FSK modulation-the XE1203 with a maximum 152.3 kbps rate and the XE1205 reaching 304.6 kbps. The XE1205 also includes an on-chip SPI interface and a FIFO data buffer that reduces host processor overhead. Both devices are ETSI & FCC certifiable without an external SAW filter.
